Their very first act of government was to set up Panama companies for graft
It is now beyond dispute. The big article in the Australian Financial Review this morning, full of information taken directly from the documents in the Panama Papers (the Australian Financial Review is a media partner of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists), details how Nexia BT, whose Brian Tonna had a desk at the Office of the Prime Minister already, wrote to Mossack Fonseca in Panama on 14 MARCH 2013enquiring about setting up companies in Panama for Keith Schembri and Konrad Mizzi. This was just THREE DAYS after Muscat was sworn in as Prime Minister of Malta and ONE DAY after the cabinet of government took their oath of office on 13 March.
It is therefore impossible to rule out his involvement and collusion. There is a third associated company in Panama, Egrant, for which there are no personal details in the Panama Papers. It was set up at the same time as Keith Schembri’s Tillgate Inc and Konrad Mizzi’s Hearnville Inc.
The Prime Minister is currently speaking at the Labour Party’s annual general conference and the speech is broadcast live by his party’s television station and radio. He is looking deathly pale and two-thirds of the size he was two months ago. He is, however, deploying the same tone of voice and attitude he has historically done: “Simon Busuttil is bitter. We are better.”
