Have you noticed how Chris Cardona and Joe Gerada haven’t told us where they were on Monday night?
In all the bluff, bluster, threats of libel suits and hysterical press statements, you will perhaps have noticed that one, key piece of information was missing: the Minister for the Economy and his consultant/EU presidency policy officer failed to tell us where they were on Monday night.
Did they show us a restaurant or bar receipt to demonstrate that they were out at dinner, for example? No, they did not. And you can bet your last dime that had they been in a restaurant or proper bar, they would have had a receipt to show because – as has been famously illustrated – they claim the lot off the taxpayer.
Even without receipts, somebody who wasn’t plainly lying would have made some attempt, at least, to say, “No, I wasn’t at that brothel. I was at (insert name and place) instead with (insert names as applicable) from (insert time) to (insert time).”
If somebody were to upload a post tomorrow morning saying I was at a brothel (or wherever) the night before, my response would be, “No, actually I wasn’t. I was at home watching Chris Cardona trying to pull off a damage limitation exercise with Saviour Balzan on TVM. My husband was there, and my mother rang me and spoke to me on the home telephone. Also, I called the breakdown service to change a wheel on my car, so they know I was home too.” And more in that vein.
Have the Minister and his (sex) aide done any of this? No, they haven’t. That’s because they were at the FKK Acapulco brothel between 7pm and around 10.30pm.
