Michelle Muscat, in state-funded chauffeured car, ushered through traffic/police outrider “shouts frantically” at people to get out of the way
Michelle Muscat, the Prime Minister’s wife, was ushered through heavy morning traffic yesterday by a police outrider who forced other drivers to move out of the way and angrily told them to be quick about it.
One of them took this picture and sent it to me with a description of the nuisance event. Other than the state-paid chauffeur, Mrs Muscat was the sole occupant of the state-funded Chevrolet in which – complete with chauffeur – she drops her children off every day at San Anton School, where she and her husband pay fees of €7,000 a year.
Last year, those school fees and just one of the holidays which the family took in 12 months – a €15,000 six-day trip to Dubai – will have wiped out €22,000, which is more than a third, of the Prime Minister’s income after tax.
The reader who sent me the photograph said: “It was 8.26am on the Kappara bypass. She came from the direction of St Julian’s towards Msida, went up to the University roundabout, and caused absolute havoc on that narrow slipway. The police officer who escorted her car was shouting frantically at people to get out of the way.”
