I don’t think Joseph Muscat has put Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando on the Labour ticket because he is feeling desperate. I think he has done it because he is vengeful and spiteful.

Muscat is using every instrument in the toolbox to try and crush, vaporise and humiliate Marlene Farrugia and Godfrey Farrugia, the only two members of his government who have stood up to him.

That is why he is personally standing for election on the very same district which Marlene Farrugia is, and that is also why he has decided to throw the unhinged Pullicino Orlando into the mix.

Joseph Muscat’s thirst for revenge is shocking, scary and deeply unhealthy. Were he the president of a country in sub-Saharan Africa, he would think nothing of having people locked up or ‘disappeared’.

Malta’s democracy is hanging by a thread, and that thread is only because it is still a member of the European Union. Muscat would be in full Hugo Chavez/Venezuela mode right now if Malta were not part of the EU.

I don’t think people sufficiently understand how truly precarious the situation in Malta has become.
