Queen opens ‘Brexit’ parliament wearing outfit inspired by EU flag

Queen Elizabeth II presided over the state opening of parliament in London today wearing an outfit that was – coincidentally or intentionally – inspired by the European Union flag. This parliamentary term will be marked by Britain’s exit from the EU.

It was the first time in 43 years that the Queen did not wear the Imperial state crown and the robe of state. The crown was carried instead by an officer of state, along with the sword of state and the cap of maintenance, symbols of royal power and authority.

She also travelled by car, rather than in the traditional state coach pulled by horses, and was accompanied by the Prince of Wales because her husband is in hospital.

I found the outfit interesting.
