Chris Said is not pulling out of the race
Sources close to Nationalist Party leadership contender Chris Said have told this website that he has taken a decision today not to pull out of the race and leave the field clear for rival Adrian Delia. If Dr Said withdraws, Dr Delia will have to poll 66% of the vote, otherwise the content is declared null and the whole thing starts again with new contenders, who may include the same ones.
The vote on 16th September will be among a new electorate made up of party members only, so any extrapolations from yesterday’s result, in which Alex Perici Calascione and Chris Said together polled more votes than Adrian Delia, are on unsafe ground.
Sources close to Dr Delia, however, told this website that he expects to coast home to a clear victory in the vote in two weeks’ time, and that his ongoing celebrations and those of his supporters are “not premature or ill-advised”.
