David Cameron and Ed Miliband live on BBC TV now

With reference to my previous post about how our prime minister and leader of the Opposition are nowhere to be seen this morning, switch to the BBC for a graphic example of how things should be done, and the sort of things that should be said, and in what context.

British prime minister David Cameron and Opposition leader Ed Miliband are making statements to the House. And what statements they are.

Back home on the ranch in Malta, we reserve that kind of thing for a 29-hour parliamentary debate on a referendum question about divorce. And then we say we are a true European democracy.

    A joint statement by both prime minister and leader of opposition is due at this moment.

    Some people are panicking and useless hearsays are circulating in the street. Malta is facing its most critical moment of national security since independence and we are being updated more about the divorce and concience issues than our own security.

    At this moment I would suggest that the divorce issue and referendum be postponed towards hopefully more serene times, and allow the prime minister to concentrate solely on the Libya issue.

    Actually, Daphne, was the situation in Libya discussed in a parliamentary debate? I had wanted to ask this for some time.

    [Daphne – No, because it’s not as important as a referendum question on divorce.]
