Unbelievable: Alfred Sant’s nephew, a Labour candidate, says that Labour is “the more European-minded party”

Here’s Marc Sant, writing his blog last Friday:

Labour Party: clearly the more European-minded party in Malta

Earlier today Labour declared that if elected to government in a few weeks it will appoint a Cabinet member for European affairs.

Once again Labour has shown that having a European mind-frame does not mean blindly waving the EU flag at mass meetings, singing ‘iva, ghalina…’ or taking up a cushy job in Brussels or Strasbourg. Having a European mind-frame includes, amongst other things, hard facts and evidence.

(…)

Somebody should tell him that appointing a Minister for European Affairs doesn’t mean you are more European than anyone else. It can also mean that you intend to put up a fight and dedicate plenty of time and effort to it.

Taking up a cushy job in Brussels, like Joseph Muscat.

  2. Claude Sciberras says:

It actually shows how non-European minded the PL is. European affairs should not be treated like Foreign Affairs but rather each ministry should be geared up to deal with European affairs.

It could be that Labour’s MEP are not delivering.

With that being said by someone whose uncle conducted most of his political career opposing the EU; un-effing-believale.
