Prime Minister Muscat tweets in defence of massive tax evasion by PN ex ministers
Dear readers, there is something going on here that we are not being told. And it’s something big. I’ll say we’ve stumbled upon some of the knots in the real xibka tal-hazen.
Last week the prime minister was all over the media saying that his government is leaving no stone unturned in its efforts to get the Swiss Leaks HSBC Geneva information that is relevant to Malta.
Then yesterday we discover that his government has given an amnesty to Ninu Zammit for an undisclosed sum of money he held at that bank and concealed from the tax authorities for many years while he was a minister of government.
And today we wake up to find the prime minister tweeting in a most un-prime ministerial fashion (“Ninu and Michael are not Austin!” – first names and a literal translation from Maltese which makes no sense at all in English unless you are also Maltese and know what he means to say) in defence of these two scroundrels.
