Of course he is. We don’t speak about the banality of evil for nothing. I would not, however, use ‘pure’ as an adjective with the noun ‘evil’, as one of the subsidiary meanings of that adjective is ‘wholesome and untainted by morality’, making it that particular adjective-noun combination read initially like a perplexing contradiction in terms.
