Robert and Lydia Abela had all their family laundry done by the palace staff at taxpayers’ expense
Robert and Lydia Abela – she is the Labour Party’s executive secretary, and he a vocal critic and insulter of the Nationalist governments which made his father president and gave his family firm an endlessly renewable contract for legal services to the Planning Authority – had all their family laundry done by the staff at San Anton Palace while his father was head of state between 2009 and 2014.
Informed sources told this website that their dirty clothes, towels and bedding were dropped off at the Palace every few days, where state-paid palace laundry staff washed, dried, pressed and starched them, and readied them for collection. “The laundry bags included their baby’s filthy outfits from which they didn’t even bother to first rinse off vomit and excrement,” the sources said. “Palace staff had to deal with that mess and the stains left behind.”
