Muscat’s promises today: tax cuts, fresh tarmac, flog more passports to pay for it

Today, Muscat promised us swingeing tax cuts, right across the board. A few days ago, I had reported that he would do this.

He also promised to “resurface all roads” – which is a great reason to vote a corrupt gang back into power, I suppose.

When asked how he proposed doing all this, without dragging the country into bankruptcy, he said that they government would simply sell more European Union passports/Maltese citizenship.

“Extending the Individual Investor Programme” – which means selling Maltese citizenship – is, in fact, the only ‘wealth creation’ proposal on his list so far.

Running out of money? Just flog another passport. It’s completely unsustainable, but selling passports is now being presented as ‘free money’. The problems that it brings in its wake are not being discussed at all.

It’s the easy solution for those who are devoid of ideas on how to create real, sustainable growth.
