AD has no chance of electing anyone. So that’s that, then. The Nationalist Party has known it has a clear majority since around 1300hrs, but the Labour Party was refusing to acknowledge it.

Now the Nationalist Party has agreed with the Labour Party not to make a formal announcement of the result before the first count is done.

It is now evident that Jason-of-the-smug-smile has been castrated and has had his ‘maggoranza assoluta’ taken away off him. ‘Bir-rispett kollu’, the same may be said to his ‘uncle’ Pelias (Greek mythology).

Pelias – or rather un-Pelias (senza peli, pelato, etc) – has also lost his nerve and is hiding and unable to face reality.

I do hope that this chorus of castrati will disappear from the scene and their leader will not come back for a ‘bidu gdid’ as happened five years ago.

‘Bir-rispett kollu’, my only wish – as that of many others – for this sorry lot is: Go and Sod yourselves.

  16. Lorna says:

What I’ve heard from Labour ranks is that they will come out with a press conference at 11:00. Furthermore, they are spreading the rumour that “In-Nazzjonalisti xtraw 30,000 vot because only the most corrupt ones got a great number of votes” This would theoretically garner enough support for Sant to stay on. I have it from reliable sources so it would seem that the electoral result is illegitimate.

  17. Mario Gauci says:

    Braking news!

I have just been told that as yet, our future Prime Minister Dr. Gonzi cannot go to the President’s Palace to be sworn in due to the fact that no official result has as yet been announced by the Electoral Commission. This I am told is due to the fact that there exists a slight possibility that AD can still get a seat!

  18. 123 says:

If what Lorna is saying is true, it only confirms the Labour mentality further…they can never accept reality for what it is…i.e.that they’ve lost because the party as it is is incompetent…they’re welcome to hold on to DOTTOR SANT…the longer he stays in mlp leadership, the longer PN stays in power!VIVA GONZI! Now we truly are fit-tmun ta idejn sodi!

  19. Tonio Mallia says:

    Lorna

What the hell are you talking about?

Let them come up with their theories! Who did the nationalists buy the votes from? The ljuni tal-bidla who were so tired of corruption ??

    What stupidity!

  20. axm498 says:

One thing for sure is that on this rock there are not enough genuine politicians to make one complete party let alone four. At least Malta got the right mix.

  21. la gonzaga says:

Lorna i gather they got great number of votes..as people i guess wanted to pass on a message!… we have to read between the lines!!

  22. Albert Fenech says:

All this talk about corruption – without doubt it is one of the most reprehensible ways to act – what I find equally reprehensible is hypocrisy – so we have a situation where citizens of a democratic country desire a governemet that is not corrupt – yet some will regularly use their ‘vote’ as a demand for some personal favour…..this is corruption – and it also corrupts others. We should identify both those who are corrupt but also those who participate in the process.

  23. jacqui says:

alfred sant has resigned – net just announced!!!

  24. Irene says:

What a sigh of relief after all the built up tension. Well done Dr. Gonzi.

But to be fair, I must say hats off to Dr. Michael Falzon for the way he handled a very delicate situation all day and night as he was left standing to face the music all on his own. Jason’s smarmy look was nowhere to be seen after his pathetic attempt to try and build up a false moral to his supporters(before the boxes were even opened), nor were any of the other labour candidates or Deputy leader, for that matter. Then like Houdini, he vanished from the scene and he was not seen again, when it was more than evident that it was not a sweeping majority.

Well, thank God, now we can put our minds at rest for the next 5 years.

  25. Cheryl says:

Well … Chicken Sant … that’s about time for you to resign eh!!

  26. david says:

sant has just announced it !!!!

  27. Cheryl says:

Thanks Dottor Sant for stepping down just in time to give PN a win !!!

  28. Cheryl says:

U dak Jason fejn qieghed tghid ????

  29. Matthew Muscat says:

    Dear Cheryl!

Jason… has a problem with the stage props! The gossip is that somebody, within the MLP, punched him strait on the nose! Well, so much for the perfect face!

Now i repeat! Do not count on this news. This is just gossip… Tseksik!

  30. Cheryl says:

Oh jahasra … such a perfect face with a perfect smile … what a pity !!! Don’t cry Jason hanini ta … You can always go back to your Naturambjent u tisfoga mal-qsari … Nahseb taqta figura ahjar!!

  31. Cheryl says:

Why did the Chicken cross the road?

Because he went to collect his pension cheque after handing in his resignation

  32. maltatoday says:

Just went into SB’s commentary of today on maltatoday.I really found SB’s comment of today smacking of arrogance and personal interest. He seems to be one of those who did not get what he expects from the PN and vouched to do everthing possible to damage the PN.

SB seems to be one of those who expects faces in cabinet to change, but who wasted his vote by not voting or voting for a small party who had no clearly no chance of being elected, instead of using his vote to help Dr Gonzi change his cabinets, as wise voters did.

He even thinks that Dr Toni Abela should be the next Vici Kap of the MLP, of all people. I cannot imagine this type of person appealing to anyone except some die hard MLP supporters.

Here are some quotes from this commentary :

“And apologies for having lowered the tone in the last weeks, I promise to get back to my old nasty self in the near future.
“There is one thing I will promise our readers: if I planned to be a thorn in Alfred Sant’s backside if he had been elected, then I can assure you that I will be an Ethiopian red pepper for Gonzi”.

Does SB pretend to be, the second “Salvatur ta Malta”?

A look at this commentary shows what a great man Dr Gonzi is to be able to lead the PN to another victory beating all kinds of obstacles including awave of unjustified criticism smacking of personal agendas in our country. Dr Sant felt he had to resign since he was not backed by independent media. Maybe he did not look at MT’s commentary yet.
