The wisdom of The People (8)

“We should seriously get out of the European Union. It’s the singlemost biggest mistake our leaders have made. Malta has lost it’s identity, and now the Libyans are taking over. Foreigners are buying our land and building buildings taller than our churches, now ghettos are being formed. I hear our young girls are going with these black men and Mosks are being built. We lost our Malta Lire, which was strong, that our forefathers have used. I remember paying .10 for a pastisi, now it costs .50 with the Euro. We have sold out to the coniving politicians in Europe. Malta has gotten a bad end of a deal, which is very typical of an empire. The EU is really just a large empire. Those promises are so short term compared to the long term damage. How would La Vallette have handled this situation? The Libyans are not legals and their babies who are born should not be citizens if the parents came illegally. I believe Malta is wrong to issue citizenships to students who attend the university. Malta should close it’s borders to new citizenship unless their linage can be traced back by at least three generations.”

This can only be a joke. Nobody could possibly be that stupid.

OMG! Somebody tell him to shut up, before he embarasses himself further!

    Creepy!
Especially for someone like me, coming from Germany.

This is by far the funniest comment I’ve ever read on timesofmalta.com.

It IS a joke. The more ridiculous and outrageous the comment, the more likely timesofmalta.com will publish it. I have often posted in the immigration threads. They never publish my comments when they are pro-immigration, even though I give my real name and information; however, I have been able to get four absurd and blatantly racist comments published in quick succession, using obviously fake names and telephone numbers. I think the editing team at timesofmalta.com are either using reverse psychology to show up these racists, or else they have a very dark sense of humour, or maybe they are just incompetent.

In some other, saner, more rational world, Steven Paterno would have been completely right. But we don’t live there – not ever. In the Pollyanna world we are all forced to live in he is of course mad. I remember paying three cents for a pastizz – but I’m now an old man. It used to be zewg soldi… and before that it didn’t cost more than a third of a farthing.

It’s called inflation. And it’s not caused by less supply over demand, but through the creation of new money, which syphons off people’s savings… but this reasoning leads right back to the saner world, which does not exist.

And yet the bubble is gone, all major world banks are insolvent, while trillions of the people’s money are guaranteeing their solvency. It starts soon in the eurozone… and in the next couple of months Professor Scicluna will have a lot to say about the euro. Good luck to him for it seems to be the only subject he can talk about.

Or else it could be a way of manipulating people’s opinion and mood to get them to jump on that train of hatred.

Here’s Golden Brown telling us, at last, that banking practices are “indefensible”. It’s not more regulation that we need, but supervision of the bankers and their practices (and that should also go to central bankers and their FIAT money). It was, after all, a huge pyramid scheme, but international bankers are never jailed for that.

Controversy sells; accord doesn’t. The more bizarre the comments, the more people log in to read, and in turn, comment. The more comments (read hits), the stronger is the advertising standing of in this case, The Times.

Some quotes that spring to mind when reading the above:

“The trouble ain’t that there is too many fools, but that the lightning ain’t distributed right.” Mark Twain

“The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.” Bertrand Russell

“Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools because they have to say something.” Plato

  11. cikki says:

    @ Chris II

Re your last quote, how true it is. Also I think wise men read what fools write, and many times don’t bother to reply – where would they start? Whilst fools just go on and on and on. They’re so bloody pleased with themselves they don’t know when to stop.

On the other hand, not everyone is unreasonable and it is heartening to read comments like this (from today’s Times):

Nisperw li dawn li qeghdin jappelaw biex limmigranti illegali jintbaghtu lura fuq il bahar etc etc ma jmorrux kull nhar ta hadd il knisja kattolika u jitqarbnu ghax qed jahlu il hin.

filwaqt li il problema ghandha tigi indirizzata bis serjeta, ejjew ma ninsewx li ahna nghixu bil karita ta pajjizi kbar ohra. ibda mil EU u mil USA bil hafna ghajnuna, grants, protokolli etc li niehdu. hafna nies issa qieghdin jahsbu li ahna xi pajjiz kbir u self- sufficient u ma ghansna bzonn lil hadd

What a hotchpotch of ideas. And yet Steven Paterno will probably be voting in the European Parliament elections next June. Yes, that’s his right as well.

Unlike you presumably. You can talk about everything under the sun and the moon although your specialisation is conspirology. Ironic that you sometimes lose the plot, isn’t it?
