“Hurray for the Chamber. They want the waste industry to be managed like in Italy by the mafia. No man, this strategy has to be kept under Government hands and not given to private entrapreneurs. What if these ‘private companies’ strike and make our roads like those witnessed in Naples? No man! In Italy they kill each other for contracts connected with waste. Ah there is money in this waste industry. So Wasteserv, keep this big business under the watchful eyes of the government. And let the Chamber shout as much as it likes. We will not have another little Italy in Malta.”

– J. Farrugia, posted beneath a news report on timesofmalta.com, on the Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s objections to the waste management update, in which the Chamber claimed that Wasteserv is leaving no room for private-sector involvement in waste management
