A boat party to prove that Labour is a magnet for the young and super-hip

Published: July 30, 2012 at 3:32pm

I’m guessing that Something Fishy Mizzi had no reason to report this to the police. May the Lord deliver us from the sight, sound and effects of the seriously uncool trying desperately to be cool (an inherent contradiction) – a sentiment about which I feel as passionately now as I did 30 years ago.

Times change but frigging nerds certainly don’t. It’s incredible, isn’t it – you’d have thought they’d have found a cure by now.

Oh, look, it’s Jason Micallef – deluding himself he’s young as usual. Or maybe he’s just a perv? There must be Ronnie Pellegrini somewhere on that boat, too. Not like him to miss a crowd of young people and Jason Micallef.

The in-crowd….

Tander Saliba, sec-gen of FZL, in a tander…errr, tender moment.

Nuxellina, the Labour mayor of Hal Qormi (arm outstretched) raises the tone.

Maaa, how stylish.

It looks like some party thrown by trailer thrash.

[Daphne – What are you on about? It IS some party thrown by trailer trash.]

  2. Francis Saliba MD says:

This non-police photographer went to the correct boat not to that other drug-suspect yacht that must not be named.

I’m 21 years old and I just can’t understand how distressed and preoccupied these people seem to be. Not only those who are older than my parents but even the young ones.

They all make an effort to smile at the cameras, pose, dress-up and keep up conversation. It’s like they are trying to fit in someone else’s shoes.

A message to all: being young is all about being effortless and carefree. Being natural. It has to be in you. If you don’t have it, tough luck. Oh and it lasts until you’re..say 25. After that you’re no longer a ‘zaghzugh’.

We’re over 30, but we have no responsibilities, because mummy and daddy pay all the bills. We have decent paycheques, because in the 90s university was really open to everyone.

So we have a lifestyle. Look at me in my sexy outfit.

These are my contemporaries. Sad, very sad.

Joseph Muscat is 38 and describes himself as a ‘zaghzugh’.

Arrested development and failing to grow up and mature is not the same as acquiring some desirable eternal youth.

The ‘In Crowd’ photo is particularly disturbing. X’ jagħfas fuqhom bħal iljunfant fis-saħna.

  12. Allo Allo says:

One of the photos reminds me of VH1’s Rock Star … Anti Rock Star feature.

  13. U-turns u Kutrumbajsi says:

Let them enjoy themselves, poor souls. If it hadn’t been for the policies of successive Nationalist governments, they would be wearing boiler-suits and working in the dockyard for the minimum wage, with not a cent to spare for ‘kapricci’.

    Now that’s real social mobility.

  14. Grezz says:

Daphne, how did you miss the male hair-flick (no, not Herr Flick) on the bottom land corner of the “horizontal stripes” photo?

  15. Gahan says:

  16. Becky says:

  17. C.Portelli says:

Common mortals doing everyday stuff all other common mortals do from time to time, if you ask me. Including horizontal stripes.
