Neil Young, Pimm’s No. 1 Cup and a production line of magazine pages

Published: July 27, 2012 at 9:40pm

Some things make working in the evening to meet deadlines a whole lot easier: a jug of Pimm’s No. 1 Cup (made with mulberries, currently dropping off the Bidnija trees, instead of strawberries) and Neil Young’s music, which has kept me singing (really badly) since I was 16.

This is out on Sunday, 5 August. Jason Micallef should be delighted. Claire Borg made the hearts and took the picture. She runs a little cafe called Mojo’s just across the street from Arkadia in Victoria.

Ah yes, the soundtrack to my life…”it’s better to burn out than to fade away…they give you this but you pay for that…and once you’re gone, you can never come back…when you’re out of the blue and into the black”.

How convenient that I no longer live in a flat on the Sliema front and can play this as loud as I like.

I’m looking forward to another tasty (and tasteful) issue.

Last Wednesday, Jason and his Super 1 idiots were hanging out in the VIP area at the Loreen concert, at 50 Euros a head. Jason’s attire would have been appropriate for a night out at Kloset.

Ah, yes, Neil Young (Canadian, eh?). Used to watch his old man read the news on CBC in Canada. He was not amused when his son became more famous. Those were the days.

    Ah, Pimm’s No. 1 Cup.

Might I mention that Claire makes what I consider to be the best capuccino in Gozo. This apart from her unique and tempting home-made dishes.

Pimm’s No 1 Cup – with fruit and lots of ice – this reminds me when I was still engaged to be married. Good to know that drink is still around.

Ah, Neil Young, the big man you’d expect to have a voice with Tina’s pitch, and the J. Dalli B.A. of rock music as far as whining goes.

He has produced some great stuff down the years.

I always found this, from Neil Young, to be the perfect contribution to the soundtrack of my life. Somehow, I can really believe Young’s sentiment here.
