And this is the foreign ministry, for crying out loud. All together now: U EJJA, MHUX XORTA?

L-aqwa li ghandna podium armat bis-subwoofers.

    • Janneke Pis says:

The woman on the left is actually the foreign minister’s niece, Vanessa Frazier. Well, hello Washington.

      • H.P. Baxxter says:

Hello indeed. Now do you understand why I wish we’d never been independent? We wouldn’t have jacked-up nieces living it up and doing sweet FA at our expense.

  2. Min Jaf says:

Gorg Vella ma nahsibx li jifhem hafna dwar il-protocol tal ‘flugs’

  3. La Redoute says:

Are this lot congenitally unable to address any sort of audience without using a podium as a prop?

  4. Mario Mercieca says:

    Gvern tad-dilettanti

  5. WhoamI? says:

    U ejja, mhux xorta.

  6. Spick says:

You are mistaken, the flag should be on the right.

    • Jericho says:

No, it should be on the left. That is the protocol with national flags of EU member states in respect of the EU flag.

  7. the saint says:

Today Mr Matrenza wrote a pompous letter to the Times hoping to make his presence felt, thus enabling him to be reappointed as Maltese High Commissioner in UK, with the added perks of going on another shopping spree from Harrods to furnish his London apartment.

    • Jericho says:

imma ser jibqa bil-ghatx ghax ghal Londra hemm Norman Hamilton lest bil-bagalji ppreparati.

    • Ta sapienza says:

Yes, he was scandalized at the looting of stationery from government offices. He never squeaked about the looting of the Maltese high commission in London including priceless Caruana Dingli watercolors. Wonder where they ended up.

  8. Kevin says:

In the US, the flag is flown on the right while foreign flags on the left. Do we follow the opposite protocol?

[Daphne – The EU flag is not a ‘foreign flag’. We are a member state of the European Union. The EU is not foreign to Malta. Malta is part of it. The protocol for displaying the flag of an EU member state with the EU flag is as described, and not as done by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which got it wrong. This is not Maltese protocol, but EU protocol.]

    • La Redoute says:

At Joseph Muscat’s Bagit2013 press conference the flag positions were reversed. I don’t think he’d take too kindly to being criticised by Mr Sharon Ellul Bonici.

  9. BP says:

That post has been promised to Norman and Josette Hamilton.

    • H.P. Baxxter says:

Washington then. Or one of the other holiday postings: Belgium, Paris, Rome.

      • Janneke Pis says:

Belgium is already promised to that relic of 80s Labour presenters, who can’t stammer a decent word in Maltese or English let alone administrative French. Le Palais du Roi will have a fit when he turns up to formally meet the Belgian sovereign.

      • H.P. Baxxter says:

        Who? Norman Hamilton? Charles Xuereb?

  10. Ian Caruana says:

Mur ara Josette kemm se taghmel xopping.

  11. Maltyser says:

OMG will Norman still wear his gold bracelet at the Malta High Commission………very Del Boy
