Oh, poor Lara Boffa has taken offence at having the fact that she’s thick pointed out in public

Published: July 10, 2013 at 4:07pm

You are thick, Miss Boffa. Deal with it.

You’re so thick that you are unable to work out for yourself (and nobody has yet told you, so let it be me) that making an ass of yourself on Facebook and being vulgar about the journalists who criticise you is not appropriate behaviour for a board member of a state corporation.

In any other context – if the company were private or publicly-listed – you would be severely reprimanded for bringing the company into disrepute.

You’re a director of the board at Malta’s energy corporation, Enemalta, for heaven’s sake. You should not be running around behaving like this, and especially not on Facebook.

You are not only thick. You are also infantile. You should not be on that board of directors in the first place. You are there not because you are thick (you are thick, and also wholly unqualified). You are there because you lent your face and your grandfather’s surname to a Labour electoral campaign billboard, to a Labour video, and to Labour newspaper advertisements and other marketing collateral.

Oh yes, and you gave the most hopelessly inept testimonial I have ever had the misfortune to hear delivered by a person who claims to have some sort of education.

Does the “Bullshit Loading” refer to the comments on her page?

    • ciccio says:

It’s probably her mind developing the thoughts she is trying to express, although we are in a position to understand that this is bullshit.

Just what I think and understand of course, and this is not necessarily what Lara Boffa intended and what she is responsible for.

    • Alf says:

Sorry, Liberal, you are wrong. Lara herself is loading

  2. GiovDeMartino says:

Her grandfather was humiliated by Mintoff and her grandmother addressed a PN mass meeting in Qormi.

  3. Josette says:

Since when is being the member of a Board of Directors a full-time job?

And she is responsible for what I, at least understood – there wasn’t that much room for interpretation and, if she thought she was being subtle she really is thick.

There she goes, bringing a well-respected family into disrepute.

  4. Wistin Schembri says:

As indicated by GiovDeMartino, Lady Genoveffa Boffa addresses a PN mass meeting in Qormi on 9 December 1981; a great person who stood up and was counted. The sixth, fifteenth and penultimate paragraph are very illuminating.

This is a transcript of what Dr Paul’s Boffa’s widow said:

“Hassejtu d-dover tieghi li nappella lil dawk kollha li kienu jafu r-ragel tieghi u forsi hawnhekk hawn minnhom li kienu segwaci tieghu, biex il-vot taghhom jaghtuh lill-partit ta’ Dr Eddie Fenech Adami.

Ghax jien inhoss li l-Partit Nazzjonalista kif inhu llum huwa bhalma kien il-partit tar-ragel tieghi.

Zewgi kien qala’ bis-siggijiet ghax hadem ghal Malta. Izda hu kien mahbub mill-poplu ghax ghex mieghu. Meta kien Prim Ministru kien ighaddi mit-toroq bil-mixi u jkellem lil kulhadd. Ma kienx ikollu pulizija u bulijiet mieghu.

Dak li qabel kienu jghajru bih lil zewgi li hu xih, ghajjien u spicca, illum qed jinghad lil min kien jghidlu dak id-diskors.

Il-familja tieghi qalghet hafna fuq wiccha minn dawk li suppost kienu l-hbieb ta’ zewgi. Nghid biss li jien lanqas ghandi pensjoni ta’ zewgi avolja dan kien Prim Ministru.

Lil binti li kienet tabiba fl-Isptar, fl-1956, xi hadd li kien jahdem hemm u llum hu ufficjal tal-GWU, kien irrapurtaha li tkellmet dwar il-politika fil-post tax-xoghol meta dan ma kien veru xejn u ftit taz-zmien wara l-Gvern ta’ Mintoff kien baghtilha karta fejn qalilha li s-servizzi taghha ma kinux mehtiega avolja ma kien hemm hadd biex jiehu postha fil-laboratorju tal-Isptar.

Uliedi kollha hadu u batew minn dan l-istess trattament taht il-Gvern ta’ Mintoff.

Jien se nivvota lill-Partit Nazzjonalista u nirrakkomanda lil dawk il-Boffisti biex jivvutaw lill-Partit Nazzjonalista ghax dan hu l-uniku garanzija ghall-futur ta’ Malta taghna. Il-PN illum hu mmexxi minn Eddie Fenech Adami li hu ragel onest.

Min jemmen verament fil-principji Laburisti li ghalihom kien hadem u bata zewgi, ghandu jivvota lill-PN.

F’dawn l-ahhar ghaxar snin, il-polu Malti kellu jbati hafna nuqqasijiet u ingustizzji. Kien hawn nuqqasijiet tal-aktar affarijiet ezzenzjali bhall-ilma u sahansitra l-halib tat-trabi. L-iskarsezzi li kellna f’dawn l-ahhar ghaxar snin hadd m’ghandu jinsihom meta jmur jivvota.

Fil-pajjiz rajna wkoll hafna vjolenza li ghamlet hafna hsara. Zewgi kien kontra kull vjolenza. Kien jirripsetta l-opinjonijiet ta’ kulhadd u ma jiggieled ma’ hadd.

Jiena nemmen li Malta ghandha tinghaqad mal-Ewropa izda fl-istess hin nibqghu hbieb tal-girien taghna tal-pajjizi Gharab.

Zewgi kien ukoll nisrani izda ma kienz jinqeda bir-religjon. Meta kien ikollu bzonn ikellem lill-isqfijiet qatt ma ordnalhom biex imorru Kastilja kif gara f’dawn l-ahhar snin, izda kien imur ikellimhom hu.

Il-futur ta’ Malta hu fil-Partit Nazzjonalista. Jekk jerga’ jitla’ Mintoff igib dizordni fil-pajjiz aktar milli hawn illum.

Mintoff hataf f’idejh l-edukazzjoni biex izomm lill-poplu injurant ghax ma jridx li n-nies jifthu mohhhom halli hadd ma jkun jista’ jmerih.

Il-kwestjoni tat-tobba hi haga serja hafna u l-Gvern prezenti jmissu jisthi li keccihom mill-isptarijiet biex gab tobba barranin. Jalla jkollna Gvern Nazzjonalista biex fl-isptarijiet tal-Gvern jergghu jirritornaw it-tobba Maltin.

F’dawn l-ahhar snin saru hafna ingustizzji mal-haddiema li zewgi kien tant ihobb. Naf li zewgi kien ikollu xi jghid ma’ shabu fil-Kabinett ghax kien jemmen li l-promozzjonijiet ghandhom jinghataw lil min haqqu u mhux skont il-partit. Zewgi kien ighid li jekk jaghmel ingustizzja bhal din ma kienx ikun jista’ jpoggi rasu fuq l-imhadda u jorqod bil-lejl.

Ghal dawn ir-ragunijiet kollha jien nappella lill-poplu Malti kollu, specjalment lil dawk li kienu jhobbu u jirrispettaw lil zewgi, biex fl-elezzjoni li gejja jivvutaw ghall-Partit Nazzjonalista.”

    • manum says:

I was there I remember those words.

It brings tears to my eyes. She spoke with such determination that all the crowd was silent.

    • george grech says:

Is this bullshit as well, dear Lara?

    • Josette says:

Her grandmother Lady Boffa stood up to be counted … in 1981. That took real guts.

    • Victor says:

This proves what I have always heard about Sir Paul Boffa. He must have been a true gentleman.

Joseph Muscat and Manwel Mallia should read this to learn the meaning of ‘stand up to be counted’.

Pity that Lara seemingly didn’t inherit any of her paternal grandparents’ genes.

  5. manum says:

If she really meant what she said , she would ignore what you write. But it is quite evident that your words hit where it hurts most. And this one must have been a thorn in Miss Boffa’s rapidly deflating balloon.

  6. ciccio says:

Ah, so she sits on a board of a public corporation.

Then why is she listing lawyers who carried out their professional and constitutional duty and questioning if this is a black list?

Isn’t she bound by some code of ethics for public corporations?

  7. L. Gatt says:

Why do Maltese people hear an expression and then use it ad nauseam and often out of context. “Stand up and be counted” is the latest buzz phrase.” Lackey” was the favourite during the general elections.

  8. Jozef says:

Erm, she’s been appointed to the board of a public corporation facing forced supply by a mysterious ‘investor’.

Ok, so maybe that’s exactly why she was put there.

Electricity? oh you just switch on the white thingy next to the door.

  9. Melissa Bagley says:

Yes – I agree with Lara. We are all responsible for what we say. Better not to say anything at times.

  10. blue says:

Who was the person who reported her daughter?

  11. dutchie says:

    Thank you, Wistin.

How fitting (and emotional) to read this again in these times.

I was not there in Qormi but read the papers and listened to the then “illegal” but complete and uncensored broadcast of the mass meeting. Xandir Malta used to edit the speeches into senseless sentences.

Regarding poor Lara…amazing how intelligence gets completely lost down some bloodlines.

    Fool.

  12. edgar says:

So this little fool is a member on the board of Enemalta. During their time as board members they have, besides other decisions, to appoint lawyers to represent Enemalta.

Will Lara Boffa consult her Black List of the 70 lawyers before deciding?

  13. P Shaw says:

Given her immaturity and lack of common sense, the enterprises that employ/employed her do not inspire much trust. It is a sort of red flag.

  14. Rita Camilleri says:

I think this young lady has a lot of growing up to do.
