DPRC-owned technology company gives Nair’s Malta and London office addresses as its own

Published: October 9, 2013 at 1:41am

Here is some more information for Joseph Muscat, prime minister of Malta, about his court favourite and kingpin consultant, Shiv Nair.

I suggest he has his aides, Corto Farrugia and Keith Kasco, consult this website regularly.

Sinoma Technology & Equipment Group Co Ltd is owned by the Democratic People’s Republic of China (DPRC). Its Malta office is at Shiv Nair’s office address in Valletta, and its London office is at his Holland Park Avenue address.

One can do a lot of invoicing from those companies.

A group like that must be paying a lot of taxes in Malta.

Who cares about Dyson’s? The money is in oil and gas. The rest can be swept under the carpet.

It is not a wonder that the PM is still investigating the internet claims about the black listing of Shiv Nair. So are we. It seems that there is indeed a lot to investigate.

    • H.P. Baxxter says:

      Precisely.

He could buy out the British Royal Family ten times over, but the UK has always refused him citizenship. Because he’s an unsavoury sort. And that’s the way it should be.

Malta, being the hawker that it is, would sell him ten passports so it can make ten times the required sum.

      • Scary stuff says:

The UK are hardly the paragon of virtue. Shiv Nair has a British passport.

It would be interesting to know how he is entitled to it. Was he born in the UK or did he live there long enough to become entitled to it?

Surely the UK High Commission should be answering questions about one of its subjects? How does it feel that a UK national is on the World Bank blacklist?

And for the criminal lawyers – can this man be charged for criminal activity? Who has jurisdiction over him?

[Daphne – The matter was taken up in the House of Commons in 2000, and he was mentioned by name in a question to the relevant secretary of state. I had quoted the extract from Hansard. If you enter ‘Hansard’ into the search box, it will come up. Nair wasn’t yet debarred by the World Bank when he became a British subject. He was a British subject when he was blacklisted.]

      • H.P. Baxxter says:

“Surely the UK High Commission should be answering questions about one of its subjects? How does it feel that a UK national is on the World Bank blacklist?”

Trying to pass on the buck, are we? As usual.

I think you’ll find that it’s the Maltese government that has hired Nair as its consultant, not the British government. It’s the Maltese government that’s made him its envoy, not the British government. So the ones answering the questions should be the Maltese.

  8. Manuel says:

What a bunch of idiots. One would expect that the PM, or his finance minister, at least, should pick up the phone and call the World Bank directly.

Is it that hard for the PM to comprehend this? Or is he expecting you, Daphne, to do all the research for him? Amazing. What a bunch of incompetent individuals.

Povra Malta taghna. The PM simply took Nair’s word as gospel-truth and never bothered to carry out a background check on him.

    • It-tezi ta' Malta says:

Muscat expected no one to do any research, imagining he could get away with this.

      • Tabatha White says:

The thing is, that when the scam is set, the participant to the scam is riding such a “positivity high” that he feels invincible.

  10. Mark Vassallo says:

What is this “DPRC”? There’s no such country as the “Democratic People’s Republic of China”. Mainland China, or if you prefer, Red China is just known as the “People’s Republic of China”.

Taiwan is known as the Republic of China.

Maybe you’re confusing it with that other bastion of democracy — the DPRK.

Labour inherited a high street franchise on a prime location and decided to turn it into a third rate brothel since it’s the only trade they know. Pimps, thieves and scoundrels.

  13. Augustus says:

What wouldn’t the PM give to have Daphne in his pocket like he did with all those others.

  14. ciccio says:

It can be said that in two astute moves carried out through the sub-servient Maltese Labour government of Joseph Muscat, and which unfolded over the past few weeks, China has scored two important ‘export’ victories over the EU.

In the first deal, it will position itself within Enemalta with a share purchase valued Euro 200 million as an excuse to sell Chinese-manufactured photovoltaic panels, which will be labelled as ‘Made in Malta,’ into the EU.

In the second deal, involving Identity Malta – under which Chinese citizens can now buy a Maltese passport at a price of Euro 650,000 each – China can now export corruption into the EU under a Maltese passport, concealing the true Chinese identity of the perpetrators, as a result of which further deals can be made in the EU. Incidentally, the same can be said about other corrupt countries.

Welcome to Malta. China’s passport to the EU.
