Looks like others have spotted Mr Massive’s flawed logic and hopeless spinning skills (buy him a spindle, Ramona)

Here’s another one who’s taken exception to the head of government communications’ daft, faux-excited tweet yesterday. Sandro Mangion resigned some weeks ago as communications coordinator to Stefan Buontempo, the overweight and lumbering Parliamentary Secretary for Sport.

  1. Silvio Farrugia says:

Mauritius is a neighbour to Sri Lanka, no?

[Daphne – Yes, just like Malta is a neighbour to Scotland.]

    • Snoopy says:

Actually compared to Mauritius and Sri Lanka (4000km), Malta and Scotland are neighbours (2600 km) and with the same reasoning even Dubai is (4000km)

With this reasoning Malta shall get 12 points from all Eurovision nations or at least from those that give 12 points to their neighbours.

  2. SB says:

Kurt Farrugia: ‘Consensus among int’l leaders confirm respect for Malta’

Dear Kurt, of course that they confirm their respect to Malta… This government haven’t yet managed to fully demolish the good reputation that Malta got thanks to previous Nationalist administrations… Though I have to admit you’re not far from completing the job…

  3. just me says:

Dr. Gonzi had negotiated 1.128 billion in EU funds. That’s one thousand, one hundred and twenty eight million or 1,128,000,000 euro, (just want to make sure everyone understands what 1.128 billion means) …. Now THAT’S massive.

  4. Tabby says:

And yet, with CHOGM on our door step, the boss at the ministry of foreign affairs is informing certain staff members that there’s no work for them there. Others are rotting away at their desks. What a shameless government.

    • Sue says:

I too have been told about the PS’ statement to certain staff members that there’s no work for them there, and these include members of the diplomatic service.

Let us see whether the foreign affairs will issue a call for recruitment in the coming months – so much for not having any work for those serving in the diplomatic service.

      Missek tisthi.

  5. Gaetano Pace says:

This is not the last brick in the solid wall of our country`s good reputation that Labour is going to dismantle. Let us remember that the photogenic Prim we have does not have a photo in his album of CHOGM in Malta. He must definitely have one of AAPSO having been such a caressed underdog of his Dom the traitor as he labelled him.

  6. Public Officer says:

The issue here is not about hosting the CHOGM in two years’ time. It is actually the fact that Malta will have to work closely with the Chair in Office of the Commonwealth – for the next two years this will be in Sri Lanka’s hands.

  7. mm says:

One is curious where all the head of states will be accommodated.

  8. xifajk says:

I think you’re being unfair on Mr Farrugia.

I mean, “massive”, is a subjective measurement.

I’m quite sure that for him, a lot of things do genuinely and honestly seem “massive” from his perspective, in the same way, a leaf looks massive for an ant!

  9. Mauritius created an unexpected problem for the Commonwealth.

Malta presented itself as a practical stop-gap.

    Where does respect come in?

Was the choice of Sri Lanka for this year’s meeting an expression of respect for the government of that country?
