A Labour MEP goes all the way to Ethiopia and almost shows us her…cat

Labour MEP Marlene Mizzi, 59, loves to show us pictures of her cats in various poses, on her Facebook page. This time she went all the way to Ethiopia on European Parliament business and nearly showed us a picture of a cat that doesn’t purr.

It would take somebody that coarse and vulgar to pose for a photograph, with women who pride themselves on covering up and carrying themselves with dignity, by crossing bare, naked legs that have seen much better days in a skirt so loose and short that the camera, were those legs not mercifully crossed, would have picked up a ‘Good home wanted for house-trained cat’ shot.

I cannot imagine why a member of the European Parliament would think this a suitable picture to upload on Facebook.

Clearly, the woman has gone through life so happy with her Big Personality that she doesn’t know how to tone it down now that she is close to her seventh decade.

What is wrong with a certain kind of Maltese woman who always has to play cute and kookie even when she’s well past her 20s? Except for one or two, you don’t see men behaving like this at 60 – at least, not men who wish to be taken seriously, and they know it.

And then we wonder why people say that women are their own worst enemies.

Next time it will be a sexagenarian thong on display, I imagine.

Someone must have told her that she looks like Sharon Stone, so she decided to act the part.

  2. Makjavel says:

Like the whole lot of the rest, pimps, thieves and scoundrels who have no idea of how to behave.

“‘Good home wanted for house-trained cat’

Damn, that made me laugh out loud.

  4. Antoine Vella says:

She had to take a photo posing with “the natives”.

  5. Rachel says:

    Can it be a photomontage?

  6. H. Prynne says:

Is there no end to the embarrassment?

I’ll give my passport away for free the way things are going.

Very familiar places, atmosphere and smiles around the ritual of the Ethiopian buna (coffee)…

  9. carpediem says:

Ethiopians are heirs to a very old civilization which is rich in literature, music, and art de vivre. That noble attitude appears clearly among the Abyssinian Ladies on the picture.

  10. L.Gatt says:

And to (literally) add insult to injury – one of her Facebook friends commented that she is “la più bella”.

[Daphne – She is actually very ordinary looking. It never fails to astonish me what passes for beauty in Malta. Perhaps it is because real beauty is so rare and people’s standards so low. You never get to see any of these women without thick make-up anyway.]

…which is just Maltaspeak for “I desperately want to have sex with you”. Which makes it all the more astonishing.

This woman is an MEP, for heaven’s sake. She is an elected official who doesn’t know her Facebook followers and doesn’t care about them. I wouldn’t even comment on my Ritienne’s Facebook photos.

    Damn busy beaver.

  12. albona says:

I think the look on the lady’s face second from right says it all. No comment needed.

  13. U Le! says:

I would give my passport to know what the second lady from the right hand side of the photo is thinking.

  14. Joe Fenech says:

Gosh! My wife and I taught our children how to sit decently from the day they were able to sit on a chair. This lady is nearing retirement age but still hasn’t mastered the basics.

  15. just jack says:

Marlene Mizzi has an Angelina Jolie moment.

  16. Gaetano Pace says:

She has not the least hint of respect for the culture surrounding her. If only she knew what those women were thinking of her and her garb, she would have photoshopped that picture.

What a poor representative for Malta.

  17. GiovDeMartino says:

Luckily no mice were around. Otherwise nothing would have been left to the imagination.

  18. Timon of Athens says:

The woman has a fixation about her image. I remember when she was campaigning for the E.U. parliament, she visited a dog shelter, with all the pomp, high heels, full blown make-up, cameras etc.

She specifically hand-picked the few pedigree dogs to take pictures with, rather than the unfortunate mongrels, who would probably never have the chance for a home.

    A true animal-lover indeed.

  19. edgar says:

She would win first prize in a knobbly knee competition.
