And even more squirm-making: “In its investigation, the EU’s anti-fraud office OLAF said it had found “unambiguous and converging circumstantial pieces of evidence” that Dalli knew of the bribery attempt by Zammit, a part-time circus promoter and pizzeria owner who says he has known Dalli for 30 years.”

What, can’t he even admit that it is wrong to for an EU Commissioner to meet industry lobbyists in swimming trunks?
Why does everything have to be spelled out for him?
He spent 20 minutes talking to someone he didn’t know, who surprised him in his trunks – apparently – while he was relaxing by his hotel pool. And he expects us to believe that. Exactly what was it he talked about if he didn’t know the man?
Swimming-trunks? For everybody’s sake I hope they were shorts.
Even if you were to believe him, that would be another nail in his coffin. How could an EU commissioner meet someone he didn’t know while on holiday, discuss about policy issues without having any sort of background information on this man?
Why does he talk to people he doesn’t know? If I remember correctly he had said the same of Gayle Kimberley – that he didn’t know her, despite the fact that her mother lived for years with Tony Cassar tal-Marsovin while Dalli was the director who represented Cassar’s interests on the Marsovin board.
