It’s not pretty

After two men got whacked in one day yesterday, with a suspected link between the two killings, perhaps it’s time for the police to tell journalists whether they’re the case of 24-year-old Terence Gialanze, who disappeared some days ago, has been hiked up from ‘missing person’ to ‘murder investigation’.
Gialanze was/is a drug-dealer and somebody who, to use the Maltese expression for a time-honoured Maltese trade, kien imexxi n-nisa.
Yet his disappearance has so far been portrayed in the newspapers as that of just another young man who ran off. Like hell.

I think you meant “ihaddem” not “imexxi n-nisa”.
[Daphne – No, I meant the latter. That’s the expression. They mean two different things. ‘Ihaddem’ is used for pimps. ‘Imexxi’ is used for traffickers.]
In my opinion this is open gangland warfare with people being eliminated.
It suits the police force nicely.
It also alleviates the pressure on Kordin.
Recently, the Mafia in Sicily have been using Serbian, Moldavians and Albanians as hired killers. Maybe, we are seeing the same phenomenon.
I am somewhat of a crime buff, especially when it comes to murders and suspicious disappearances.
I have followed the story of Terence Gialanze as closely as I could, and was quite confused about how he could have completely disappeared without a trace, when all reports said that he was simply a normal 24 year old.
I am disappointed that I knew nothing about his drug-dealing and trafficking, but, as you said, none of this was reported in the press.
[Daphne – Do normal 24-year-olds own even one yacht let alone two?]
His riches come from his father’s box. At least so we are led to believe. Is it true?
[Daphne – No.]
He owns what?!
[Daphne – Past tense, I think. Don’t you? Two yachts. Two summers ago, when he was (presumably) 22, he rented a house for several thousand euros a month and drove a 100,000-euro BMW.]
Sounds like something out of ”Broadwalk Empire”.
These whackings as you called them are a very serious cause concern, as we are very used to our country being the safe haven as we know it, but these killings bring to light a very serious reality, beneath our lovely world is a very criminal underworld, shootings here shootings there, this is scary. Do not want to blame police force, but I think we seriously need to review the crime behind the scenes
