Many of the Gaddafi millions were in the Bahamas and other Caribbean tax havens, too

I think it’s time we reread some of my posts from two years ago, during the civil war in Libya, when former Labour Party treasurer Joe Sammut, an accountant known in his native Mosta as Il-Pixtu, custodian of tens of millions of Gaddafi money, refused to answer my questions because of ‘professional secrecy’.

One wonders whether there is any connection between this:

‘..On the thorny visa issue, Zeidan said that Muscat had offered to put in place a new system under which Libyans would be able to secure visas for Malta “far easier than for other countries” and that the Maltese Prime Minister had stressed Malta’s desire for more Libyans going there as tourists, students and businessmen.
Muscat explained that what was planned was a new agency that would ensure that Libyans and others would be able to acquire visas “in the shortest possible time”. Malta, as part of the Schengen Visa Area, had to abide by EU rules, but it was dealing with the issue and results would be “positive”, he promised.’
What’s the official going rate these days?
Such a good and positive cause in Africa, worth millions of dollars, surely deserves that we know who is behind it so that we can take them as an example.
If it is a business organisation, they will sure get my custom till I die.
And why are they being so shy as to set this up in such a remote location as the Bahamas? If it’s for the nice beaches, we have nice beaches too, as I am sure the Law Commissioner will confirm.
Shouldn’t they organise their charity it in a transparent EU country so that they will inspire us Europeans to be more responsible towards Africa?
John Dalli never mentioned charity. That’s your interpretation of his words “to help people in Africa”. He didn’t say who and he didn’t say what sort of help or in which country, and the reporters apparently didn’t ask.
Ghaddafi’s family is in Africa.
“Mr Dalli insisted with Timesofmalta.com that he had only spoken about helping people set up a philanthropic beneficial trust and that not a single cent has been transacted right to this day.”

Have you thought for a minute that he might simply be the victim of yet another Nigerian scam, miskin?
